I’d washed our sheets 3 days before and the unmade bed was starting to make me a bit crazy. We’d been gone too much and laundry was piling up and dinner needed to be made. Still, I knew what we needed……Because in our hearts, whether we like it our not, a Mama usually knows what’s needed.
In our house , sometimes no one naps, everyone becomes restless and I realize that more than anything, we all need fresh air and a walk in the woods. These choices, like a walk in the woods, over laundry and cleaning are hard for me. Does that sound crazy? Maybe to you, it does. However…this is me. I’m a doer. I want to wait until everything is done and then go out. The problem is, everything is never done and if I don’t stop and leave a few things undone, I’ll miss out.I believe most Moms don’t just wake up one day with the ability to choose the things that matter without a struggle. One small life-giving choice, is followed by a second choice and before you know it, a series of brutally hard decisions, has created a thriving life.
When you’re tired and fed up, remember that you’re their first hug of the day and throughout the day, you’re the one they look to for reassurance and truth. We don’t always feel worthy of this calling, but our feelings don’t determine our position. I am –and YOU are– the one who gets to help them create their one and only childhood. We are the ones with the honor of protecting, advocating and influencing.
When we feel incompetent, we are capable. When we’re weary, we are strong.
We are the ones who get to choose what matters. We are the Mama Bears, leading and guiding.
The Mama Bear shirt I’m wearing is by Thug Life Shirts. It’s my new favorite, because it perfectly sums up who I am and how I feel about my babies. Get one for yourself and we can be matcherinas! Use code: NWHEALTHYMAMA15 for 15% off yours.
