Have you ever dropped a bag off at the thrift store? Maybe posted something on the local Buy, Sell and Swap? How about Craigslist? For many of us, donating items is just a normal part of life. Recently I heard about a new app that let’s you #GiveItUpForFosterKids by selling items you no longer need.
As a person who constantly wants to clear the clutter and live better with less, the idea of selling items AND making a difference really excites me. How often do we dump things of value into a bag, drive them around in our cars for a month and then finally unload them at the back of the thrift store? What if instead, we all committed to selling one thing to support foster kids?
Today the Better Finds app launches. This online marketplace, allows people to turn their unused stuff into a cash donation for their favorite non-for-profit. Simply download the app and list your items for sale. Buyers can conveniently make their payment within the app. Changing the world is as simple as opening your garage! Download the Better Finds app here.
Over the next week, I’m going to be looking at our possessions differently and I’m going to find some things we no longer need to post. Then I’ll be tagging some friends to do the same. It’s sort of like the “Ice Bucket” challenge, but way better. Will you join me?When you sell your items on Better Finds, the money goes to Olive Crest, a leader in the prevention and treatment of child abuse, serving nearly 3,000 children and families each day throughout California, Nevada, and the Pacific Northwest. Olive Crest is dedicated to preventing child abuse, to treating and educating at-risk children and to preserving the family… “One Life at a Time.”
You can help Olive Crest right now by choosing an item to give up in support of foster kids! Simply download the Olive Crest version of Better Finds, post an item, and share it on Facebook and nominate a friend.
