Hikes, Bears and Brews: Playing Smart in Bear Country hosted by Scuttlebutt Taproom & Brewery, Everett

Thursday, October 19 at 3 PM – 8 PM
Did you know that Washington state is home to more than 25,000 black bears and two small populations of grizzlies? Fall is a great time to explore the natural beauty of our state and it’s also prime time to practice your bear awareness skills. Bears are highly active this time of year, packing on pounds before winter hibernation.

Join Defenders of Wildlife and Washington Trails Association for Hikes, Bears and Brews: Playing Smart in Washington’s Bear Country.

Come have a pint with us and learn how to prevent and respond to a bear encounter. Plus, get tips on great local day hikes and multi-day trips you can enjoy this fall!

Stop by anytime during the times listed. Free.

Pumpkin Patch on Rails at Lake Whatcom Railway

Lake Whatcom Railway presents our new for 2017 Pumpkin Patch on Rails!

We are excited to couple our historic Pullman cars to the locomotive for a journey to our Pumpkin Patch on Rails. Enjoy the beautiful fall colors of the forest as you are serenaded by the music of Ben the Banjo Player. We will be travelling in authentic Pullman passenger cars from Wickersham Station through the tunnel and on to Mirror Lake. Once we arrive, you will have the opportunity to ride an antique handcar prior to picking out a pumpkin to take home. After you pick out your pumpkin, sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey back to Wickersham. All ages are welcome to relive memories and create new ones on this nostalgic ride through history.
