5 Reasons to Hike Lake Serene This Summer

As I sit to write this, I’m guessing most of you have done this hike, but if not, please let me talk you into it. For a million reasons, you need a little Lake Serene in your life. There’s no question why this hike is so popular. For me, it’s unusual to finish a hike and immediately want to go back, but I hiked this only a few days ago, and I’m already missing it.

So, let’s talk about what makes it so awesome. First of all, check out the photo above.  Photos will never do the falls justice. Imagine a warm sunny day. Now imagine you’re all sweaty from climbing a trail and then as you round the corner, a cold mist starts breezing across your face. Can you feel it? This is just beginning of the awesomeness.

The trail parallels a lot of water falls that are so large (like above) that currently, you can literally feel the mist as you climb. So the number 2 reason why you need Lake Serene in your life are the ways the trail spends so much time around beautiful, rushing water.

Alright, let’s talk about the 3rd reason I love this hike. The climb! Call me crazy if you want, but God didn’t give us legs to sit on the couch. Go out and build those muscles. On this hike, you’ll become good friends with the stairs, because you’ll be seeing a LOT of them. Remember, it’s good. One day your strong legs will thank you!

The 4th awesome thing about this hike is that along the way, you’re greeted by incredible views around most of the corners. Yes, it’s 8 miles, but it’s 8 miles of beauty! And the best part?! The view at the top. Head for “Lunch Rock” and sit as long as you can. Currently the lake is still frozen, but I imagine that’ll be changing soon. What a gorgeous spot!

So tell me….have you done this hike? What did you love about it?

Last but not least, be aware that this parking lot can be insane. For the most enjoyable experience, try to visit on a weekday. Find driving directions and trail info here
